Starting an E-Commerce Business without a Bank LoanCopyright © Roderick Eash http://www.TheEashSyndicate.comThe dot.com boom of the 1980s permitted legions of people to cash in on the mushrooming availability and popularity of the Internet, but when the bubble burst, there were those who did not cash in but instead ended up owing the bank a small fortune. Those who profited were also those who were able to find a way of starting an e-commerce business without a bank loan. Granted, some might have dipped into their credit cards or homes’ equity – which is only marginally better – but by and large they only invested that which they knew they could afford to lose. At this point in time potential web-entrepreneurs are a lot more hesitant to march to the bank and ask for a loan to find their e-commerce business. They have learned from the mistakes of others and perhaps they are already so strapped in their personal finances that they know adding another monthly payment will send them over the abyss. Those who are able to not take out the loans in order to invest them in a shiny new e-commerce opportunity will also be those who will live to try another day. The others who may or may not succeed will require years – some even decades – to financially recover from a failure. It is important to understand that you do not need to start an e-commerce business with a bank loan. Instead, there are alternative ways of funding your entrepreneurship and those methods might – in the long run – be safer. For example, you will need a great computer and the latest software to make your presence known on the ‘Net. While it is tempting to buy the latest and greatest machine, find out if you can simply upgrade that which you already have. Usually you will be able to do so for a fraction of the price that a new system costs. If a new computer system is indicated, wait until special sales events come up and take advantage of them. Refurbished units and used machines which are for sale on many of the major auction sites are also a good idea. Similarly, do not worry about having an office to start out. You spare bedroom will work just fine until the money begins to roll in. It is important that you do not spend money on items which will do little to further your business. Thus, if you are making and selling e-books, an office is unnecessary. Advertising, packaging, and other incidentals can all be tackled at a shoe string budget until your business grows to such an extent that you can get a bit fancier. While it is tempting to ask for money from the bank, remember that you will need to repay this money no matter what. Starting an e-commerce business without a bank loan makes more sense in the long run, since you will be able to finance the next phase of your business with the monies you earn from the current phase. How To Start Your Own Business With Very Little CashCopyright © Roderick Eash http://www.TheEashSyndicate.comFirst of all, with any new or expanding business, money can often mean the difference between success and failure. Those who have a full-time job and one day decide to quit and start their own business with little capital may find themselves in financial hot water before the business actually gets off the ground. Even if the business requires little or no capital up front, personal daily living expenses must still be paid and your personally finances will suffer without a steady income. Obviously, with little money you will not be able to start a franchise business for a major corporation that often requires an investment of several thousand or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the beginning you can keep your sights set high, but in the short term starting small and building gives you best opportunity to start your own business with little cash. It may be best to begin your own business while hanging on to your day job until the business income will sustain your living expenses. This can be tough to accomplish at times, especially if you are used to getting home exceptionally tired from a hard day at work. If you decide to begin a business part-time while continuing your regular job, be prepared to lose your free time and time spent with family and friends. There will be no extra time while you are essentially working two jobs. If you work in an industry with which you are familiar, and already have all the tools of the trade, starting a business with little cash can be easier. If you already have everything you need to perform the functions of the business as well as the experience, the only thing missing will be customers who take advantage of your business. Even with nothing left to buy to get your business growing, there will still be expenses involved. While stationary and envelopes and other office supplies may not be important to get you up and running, your time and work is going to be a major expense that will need to cover from the beginning. Many contend that running their own business is payment enough for their time and labor, yet the grocery store and utility companies may not see it that way. If you have a family, starting your own business will also affect their quality of life and should be taken into consideration when making the decision. Many online companies have affiliate programs that you can run on a part-time basis while still working your regular job. This gives you the opportunity to start to earn extra money while building your plan to operate your own business. There are also numerous online franchise businesses that you can buy into with little cash, enabling you to start your own business. The type of online business should be determined by your interest and willingness to spend the time necessary to make it successful. Six Tips On How To Be A Good BossCopyright © Roderick Eash http://www.TheEashSyndicate.comNearly everyone with a job has at least one story of a terrible boss. In fact bad bosses are very common in the business world. A bad boss can affect a business in both morale and money. In fact the main reason many leave their jobs is because of bad bosses. People are often promoted to management because of their proficiency rather than their management skills. If you are promoted to management or want to be prepared then consider the following six tips to become a good boss. First you need to train yourself. There are many books on management you can read or you can buy a training program if you don’t have the time to read. There are also many workshops and seminars you can enroll in to help prepare yourself to be a good boss. It is also a good idea to train your employees since you are telling them you value them when you invest time and money in them. Communication is extremely important and you should make sure you do it regularly and speak clearly. When you tell employees exactly what you want them to do and say it clearly you will get better results. Employees will also perform well if you give them specific, sincere and timely feedback. Although remember communication goes both ways so be sure you are willing to listen to your employees as well. This way your employees will open up to you and you may even get some wonderful ideas from your employees by listening to them. Always remember all employees deserve respect. No matter how small the job you should always treat all employees with respect. Make sure you recognize your employees when they do good things. Often employees are only recognized after they do something wrong or make a mistake. When you publicly praise your employees they will be motivated to work hard for you. When employees receive regular recognition they will accomplish a lot more. Never think money is the main motivator for all employees. Rather employees will often settle for public praise. A thank you every once in awhile is great motivation for employees. Perhaps the one thing that helps both management and employees is a coach staff. Everyone needs to be coached and nurtured. Recognize your employees for their strengths and reward them. But at the same time make sure you help employees improve their weaknesses so the whole business can benefit. The best way to be a good boss is to focus your attention on your employees. Treat all your employees respectfully. Promote open and honest communication between management and employees. Always coach and inspire your employees to do their best. Not only will you be a good boss but you will increase your chances of being promoted and you will make your business a better place to work. Why, As A Business Owner, You Should Pay More Attention To Internet MarketingCopyright © Roderick Eash http://www.TheEashSyndicate.comWith the use of the internet continuing to grow and security for online shopping improves exponentially, more people are willing to spend money for online shopping. However, even those who do not shop online are using the internet as a resource for finding what they want. They can spend time in the comfort of their own home learning all the details about a specific item and then do into a store that sells that item armed with the information to make a purchase. Many online companies are failing to use all the available internet marketing resources to their benefit and even companies that do not sell online should be paying attention to online marketing to offer information to customers that may not visit their traditional brick and mortar outlet. For example, a person wanting to buy a new car can research the different brands and models to determine which one is right for them. In a few hours sitting behind their desk they can learn more about the different models than they can learn in days traveling from lot to lot dealing with a pushy sales staff and once they make their decision they can go the dealer and make their best deal on the make and model they want. This scenario can work itself out in virtually every item and service for sale on the internet and by providing your walk-in customers with all the information they need, you can be reasonably sure they will know what they are getting when they pay you a visit. Once they are in the door, excellent customer service and suggestive selling of related items can keep them coming back as a loyal customer. For those doing business online, internet marketing is the key to their success. It is not a baseball field in Iowa and if you build it, they may not come, mainly because they do not know you exist. Internet marketing is essentially getting your name out in the internet public’s view to enable them to make a choice about where to spend their money. Unlike Hollywood however, it is not enough to say it does not matter what they say about you as long as the name is spelled right. Your reputation is at stake every time someone visits your site. Its look, appeal and ease of use will either invite positive comments or condemn you to the list of might have beens or never were. By building a user-friendly website, offering quality products at a reasonable price will keep their interest. However, without a good online marketing plan, there is a good chance they will not stumble on your site by accident. A good plan will get your name out in the public’s eye. What happens after that is up to you. How to Book a Motivational Speaker for Your CompanyCopyright © Roderick Eash http://www.TheEashSyndicate.comA motivational speaker can help your business in many ways. In addition to energizing employees, a motivational speaker can help employees find better ways to be productive, take more pride in their work, and learn how to work with others. While there are many motivational speakers out there, finding the right one for your company may take some research. Research speakers online or create a list of references from clients, employees, or vendors. You may have heard a speaker at an event or you may have friends in the field that will be able to recommend someone. Once you have a list of possibilities, you should contact them via email or phone to outline what your needs are. Motivational speakers each have their own style. You may be able to view video on their web site or they may be able to send you a sample of their work. Since speakers mostly specialize in one or two topics, choosing a speaker that is knowledgeable about what you need them to speak on is important. If the speaker is not confident about the material, how can they motivate others? Your employees will be able to spot someone who isn't prepared and will resent their time being wasted. If the speakers you have contacted do not specialize in your topic, they may be able to recommend another speaker who does. After interviewing a speaker that you think is a match, find out even more by reading reviews of recent events they have spoken at, books they may have published, or articles that may have been written about them. These items will give you additional insight into what to expect from the speaker. Many motivational speakers travel often in order to maintain their business. You may need to book your speaker months in advance. Keep this in mind when sending out invitations to hear the speaker. Do not invite employees until you have scheduled the speaker and you know more about what they will be speaking about. Plan at least three months in advance. Once you have a commitment, then you can send out invitations and keep employees informed. If, for some reason, the speaker needs to cancel, you should have a backup speaker in mind. While it could be difficult to find another speaker on short notice, try anyway. If you can’t find a replacement, you can reschedule by sending all employees a notice. Most motivational speakers will not cancel unless it is an emergency, so you should not have any problems. After the motivational speaker has made their appearance, send an email thanking them for their time. Not only is this a nice gesture, it will also help when having to schedule them again in the future. How Important is Customer Service to your Business?Copyright © Roderick Eash http://www.TheEashSyndicate.comAny time that you enter a restaurant and are greeter by the hostess, when you are bombarded in a department store by an employee who ask if they can help you or the cashier at the grocery store, you are experiencing a tiny bit of customer service. Customer Service is something that we deal with on a daily basis. A bad customer service experience can result in the permanent loss of a customer or even customers. Bad customer service is not just a sales associate that ignores you, but a rude cashier or someone who does not help you locate the items that you desire. When bad customer service is had, the customer will remember it despite the numerous times that they had great customer service within the same store. Customer Service is the most important aspect of a business. Having a large number of potential customers means nothing, if they are treated with insufficient customer service once they have entered your establishment. Service is not limited to just the sales associates or cashiers, it is the accountability of your registers, pricing machines, or even the automated phone system that they reach when trying to call your business. Customers desire top be greeted immediately, helped with their decisions and checked out quickly. They want to feel that they are important as individuals, not just another customer buying an item. Customer Service is not only about helping the customer have a good visit the first time, but also a second visit that may not be quite as pleasant. In a world where most items as mass produced by machines, accidents can occur. Not all items may stand up to being the kind of quality products that we would like them to be. Your customer will not only have to deal with unhappy and unpleasant customers, but even the occasionally irrate client, whose purchase has broken or does not function as it should. Having an employee who can remain calm and help remedy the situation with success quickly. In this situation, apologizing and letting the customer know that you are willing to do whatever you can to please them, will instantly make them less upset and more comfortable. Customer service is not just a reflection of the employee. The employee is viewed as a small sample of the company as a whole. One rude or unpleasant employee can ruin a customer’s visit, so maintaining employees who are properly trained and view the customer has the highest priority, will cut down on the customers who have a less than quality experience. Great customer service is not completely in house for the company. If a company gives back to the community, then other possible buyers will have a positive view of the business. This can be done by sponsoring sporting teams for youngsters, donating to local charities, or setting up grants for teens who want to go to college, but could not afford it on a regular basis. This will show that the company wants to take care of the community and give back to the people that have made their company such a success.
